Travel websites for Thanksgiving

Here are several websites that can help you get from here to there this holiday season.

Webpage travel The question I get most often this time of year is, "What's the weather going to be like in......" The fastest way to find out is on our website.  On the right side of the weather home page you'll see a section called, "Find Local Forecasts." (I have it highlighted with a red box in the image to the left.)  Just type in the name of the city you're visiting and click "Go" before you go!  There's a link for international destinations as well.

By the way, this feature is available all year long, not just during the holidays. Now you'll always know what not to wear.

Traffic should be light because it's a holiday. But here in Houston, it only takes one fender bender to make you late for dinner.  Don't disappoint Grandma this year. Check the local traffic maps and Transtar Jam Cams before you pack the pumpkin pie.

Rain and snow could cause airport delays in the Midwest on Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rain is also possible in Florida. You can monitor flight delays on the FAA website.  And here's one of my favorite websites: see how many planes are in the air at the same time with FlightAware.

Are you taking a road trip instead of flying?  Find out which state highways and interstates will be closed due to construction.  You might need to pack an extra DVD or two to keep the kids entertained during the detour.

No matter what your plans, have a safe trip and a Happy Thanksgiving!
