ABC13 viewers capture the moment!
During the news at 6 tonight, I mentioned that the high-level cirrus clouds would provide a spectacular sunset. I asked you to grab your camera and take a picture of the sunset from your neighborhood. And you did!
Mark Boshart took this picture from Fairchilds, south of Rosenberg in Fort Bend County.

Here's the view over Lake Conroe. Thanks to Mike and Nancy Zimmerman.
Thanks to everyone who stopped and captured the moment. And thanks for sharing your pictures with me and all our viewers.

Wow! The sunset pics are dazzling. What a gift! Thanks to all who took time to share them. I am usually on my way home from work at 6:15PM, and must watch the sunset daily through the windshield of a Metro bus as I head due west down Westheimer Road. I am often tempted to get out to take a picture, but alas, my view would be framed with billboards and power lines. Ah, life in the big city. Houston often has some impressive sunsets; however, in addition to the unusual cloud formations, yesterday's colors were especially rich and spectacular. Is there a weather reason for this?
One of my fellow bus riders insists that our colorful sunsets are due to our air pollution. Say it ain't so, Mr. Heller.
RESPONSE from TIM HELLER: The beautiful views we've been enjoying the last couple of evenings are courtesy of high clouds aloft and dry, dusty air near the ground. Remember the saying, "Red sky at night, sailor's delight." The reference there is to a red sunset caused by dry, dusty air, not pollution.
