Lunar Eclipse Late Tonight!

If you stay up late or get up early tomorrow, you might notice the moon looks a little different. That's because the moon will be passing through the shadow of the Earth. Although we're used to seeing shadows as dark areas, the Earth's shadow will give the moon a reddish, or coppery color.

From_spaceweather_2 The partial eclipse begins at 3:51 AM Tuesday. Totality starts at 4:52 AM and lasts until 6:22 AM. The eclipse ends at 7:23 AM. By that point the sun will be up, so it might be hard to notice anything different about the moon.

You don't need a telescope or binoculars and you should be able to notice the eclipse even here in the city. The sky will be partly cloudy at the beginning of the eclipse, but some low clouds could form closer to daybreak. So the best view will come early.

I live in the Heights...which way to view the eclipse?

It's 4:55 and the Moon is in full view here in Pasadena. What an awsome Sight!

Annabelle Garcia

How awesome would it be if everyone could take time out to stop and take in something as magnificent as the eclipse. Too bad that not everyone has that luxury.
