The Season for Sneezing
For most of us the excessively high pollen in the air is a simply a nuisance. Our cars and everything else outdoors is covered with a thin layer of yellow. By for many, the high pollen count causes a severe allergic reaction and makes it hard to breathe.
Most of the pollen in the air these days is tree pollen. The oak pollen count has been excessively high. There’s also a lot of pine, willow, hackberry and other tree pollens in the air you’re breathing. Imagine a cubic meter of air and inside that cube between 4,000-6,000 microscopic grains of pollen. Now multiple that cube throughout your neighborhood. That is why you’re sneezing and wheezing.
Doctors suggest you stay indoors and run your air conditioner when the pollen level is high. And try and avoid spending a lot of time outside during the morning hours.
You can monitor the local pollen levels at the Houton Health and Human Services website.
